Our Suppliers

Quite a story
With our suppliers, it's always a long story. The Valrhona chocolate logo has been on our window since 1954, and Lucas house salmon has been on our shelves for over twenty years.
But we won't start listing examples or we'll never finish. What we seek with these long-term relationships is that if our customers found a product in our shop one day, they can find the same one years later.
G. Detou wants to be a landmark, something unchanging.
Or almost
Since the change of ownership, 400 new items have appeared. But they are here because customers asked for them. Once, twice, three times. Because the G. Detou team set out to meet the producers. Because the products were tested and approved. And they will stay for a long time. Babas from Saint-Malo and Lagrange house coffees found their place in the shop only a few years ago, but they are already classics.
So of course, we forgot to mention it because it seemed so obvious: we only choose producers we trust. Producers with true know-how, a sense of craftsmanship and taste. This allows us, when we offer one of their products, to offer almost their entire range.

What we seek is excellence
Because what we seek above all is excellence. To achieve that, we hunt for products wherever they may be. Concretely, this means that while 92% of our items come from France, our vanilla comes from Madagascar, our hazelnuts from Piedmont, and our pistachios from Iran.
We are sometimes asked why we don't do certified organic.
The answer is simple: because it's expensive. For producers who sometimes can't afford to certify their products. And then for our customers to whom the cost would have to be passed on. But, rest assured once again, we care about the quality of the items we offer, and logos aren't everything. To offer good products, there is no magic formula: you need good methods. That's also part of our quality control.
In short, with our suppliers as with our customers, whether it has just begun or has lasted for decades, our relationship is built to last.
