Description
These whole Williams pears in syrup carry the Y. Reynier brand and are jarred in Carpentras by Conserves Guintrand. According to the cannery's product sheet, the fruit comes from the Rhône valley, Provence and the Alps and is processed fresh, from mid-September to the end of October. The pears are peeled, trimmed and cored, but keep their whole shape and their stalk. The jar holds four or five, of an even 60 to 65 mm size, and the jar carries the Coq d'Or award of the Guide des Gourmands.
Cooked Williams pears stay tender and fragrant, and their ivory flesh holds its shape in a plain sugar syrup. They give you a ready base for a pear Belle-Hélène: drain the fruit, plate it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and pour over hot chocolate sauce. Standing upright on their stalks, they also sit well in the middle of a charlotte, on a Bourdaloue tart or next to a blue cheese. Keep the syrup to soak a sponge cake or flavour a fruit salad.
The jar holds 850 g net, of which 340 g is drained fruit. Keep it closed until the date shown on the lid. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and finish it within 3 days. You will also find it on the shelves of our shop, 58 rue Tiquetonne, Paris.
