Description
KAÏA is a Tunisian olive oil, extra virgin and organic. It comes from the Ben Romane family estate, in the centre-east of the country, where the olive trees have been grown for five generations according to the tin. The olives, of a single variety, Chemlali, are picked by hand and cold-pressed a few hours after harvest. The oil is certified organic by Ecocert and carries the AB logo.
The tin speaks of a balance between smoothness and bite. On its website, the producer talks of green almond and ripe tomato up front, and a peppery touch at the finish, with no bitterness. Taste it raw: on a tomato salad, grilled vegetables, a burrata or steamed fish, or drizzled over a vegetable soup. In baking, it replaces butter in an orange loaf cake or a yoghurt cake.
The 50 cl metal tin protects the oil from light. Keep it away from heat; the harvest date, best-before date and batch number are printed on the top or the bottom. The oil is bottled in Tunisia by Bizerta Agri Industry and imported by KAÏA, in Paris.
