Ketchup from Martin-Pouret, master vinegar maker in Orléans since 1797, made with French tomatoes and the house white wine vinegar aged in oak barrels. Subtly vinegary and less sweet than a standard ketchup, according to the house, it goes with homemade chips, burgers and grilled meat.

Description
This French ketchup comes from Martin-Pouret, an Orléans house that has made vinegars and mustards since 1797. Le Grand Classique is its core recipe: tomato concentrate and pulp of French origin, more than two thirds of the bottle, and the house white wine vinegar, aged in oak barrels by the Orléans method. The bottle carries the Origine France Garantie logo. The vinegar comes through more than in a big-brand ketchup, and the house describes it as less sweet than a standard ketchup.
Serve it with homemade chips, a burger, sausages or a grilled rib of beef, as Martin-Pouret suggests. It also lifts a cocktail sauce, stirred into mayonnaise with a dash of cognac, a homemade barbecue sauce with honey and smoked paprika, or a glaze for pork ribs. A spoonful added to a bolognese or a chilli at the end of cooking brings some acidity.
