SUVY SUGAR SUGAR-FREE 250G

Süvy is a crystalline table-top sweetener developed by Laboratoires Innovi, in Layrac in the Lot-et-Garonne, and made in France. It combines two ingredients: erythritol, a polyol obtained by fermentation, and polydextrose, a fibre derived from glucose. According to the label, 100 g of Süvy provides about 48 kcal, against about 400 kcal for 100 g of sugar, and 0 g of sugars. The pouch carries vegan and GMO-free logos.

The maker presents it as a weight-for-weight replacement for sugar: use the same amount, in the same way, in your usual recipes, adjusting to taste, as its sweetening power is high. The label says you can sweeten, bake, caramelise, whisk or make preserves with it. Try it first in coffee, a yoghurt or a fruit compote, then in simple recipes such as a pound cake, a crème brûlée or a pancake batter, before using it where sugar shapes the texture, such as meringues or jams.
